While she ate juniper berries, her mate (i.e., the first mockingbrid of Spring) sang in a nearby oak, trying (with apparent success) to inform the neighborhood that there was a cardinal, a bluejay, a robin, and a starling here already, and everyone else from those species should clear out, see?
